Mortal Kombat is a game that a lot of people know since their childhood - probably from two-dimensional issues where digitized actors acted as fighters, and Dan Forden, who pops up in the corner of the screen, exclaimed in falsetto "Toasty!" after a particularly juicy uppercut.

Therefore, the relaunch of the series in 2011 went great: familiar brawlers without "unnecessary admixtures," an intuitive combat system, a plot close to veterans with sharp dramatic twists, old Forden in a new blouse. Mortal Kombat X, alas, was again carried away by experiments that not everyone liked, but upset with the insipid plot and fadedness of most newcomers. Mortal Kombat 11, on the one hand, found a compromise between the 9th and 10th, and on the other hand, there are some of its own innovations.

Visuals 4/5

A longtime fan of the game will love the fact that the game has not changed beyond recognition, but only improved. One can easily find a favorite character that has just become more modern. 3D graphics applied to the fighters and the surroundings added realism to the game. Of course, compared to other games with more advanced graphics, the fighting game may seem outdated, but you cannot order your heart.

Gameplay & Characters 4/5

NetherRealm Studios has overhauled MK11's gameplay quite a bit, with a complete redesign of the move boost system and defensive mechanics. Previously, the game had one large bar of energy, which was spent simultaneously on strengthening attacks, defense, and attack x-ray.

If earlier, the energy scale at the beginning of the match was empty and accumulated as the damage was received, or during block strikes, now opponents are always in identical conditions. All enhanced and defensive techniques are available immediately. It makes the fighting game more active and allows you to play more aggressively: you no longer need to be careful until energy is accumulated for the breaker - you can break out of the opponent's combo in the first seconds of the battle.

We are sure that this time NetherRealm has outdone themselves in character design: each fighter is unique, from facial features and costume to voice acting and lines of dialogue. You can feel the vibe of any character in every word and movement.

Compatibility 4/5

You can play Mortal Kombat on your favorite consoles and PC. Besides Windows, the game is available for those who use PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Stadia from Google, and Xbox One. Either way, you'll get easy controls and a ton of fighting experience.

A Fresh Approach and Dynamic Battles

Mortal Kombat 11 is arguably the best fighting game of the generation. The game has become even more brutal, spectacular, dynamic, aggressive, varied, and demanding of the professional level of skill - while maintaining a reasonably low entry threshold for beginners. This game is bright, deep, vibrant entertainment for tens of hours.

Cons:

  • Few fighters;
  • Not the most modern graphics.

Pros:

  • Pleasant dynamics of battles;
  • Creative finishing moves and super moves;
  • Cool plot videos.
