How to choose extracurricular activities

  1. Extracurricular activities are more suitable for primary school. The primary school years are the best to let the child know more activities possible in the various areas, not only sports but also scientific, artistic, musical, in order to offer him the opportunity to understand what are his interests. “It is the age in which they” absorb “the most, and for this reason, before enrolling them in a course, it is important to accompany them to exhibitions, theatrical performances, scientific festivals, computer or art workshops, so they understand what makes them curious and he is more passionate about them, “said psychologist Roncoroni.   2. The most appropriate extracurricular activities for middle school.   3. Extracurricular activities indicated for high school. With the beginnings of high school, there is a very high percentage of abandonment of the activities attended in previous years, because the time devoted to study increases, tastes change and the desire to go out and be with the companions grows. “But if it succeeds, it would be good not to stop, because the sport is a protective factor against so many typical temptations of age (small hours, smoking, consumption of alcohol), obliges us to abide by rules and keep the body as healthy as possible », Clarified Roncoroni.

Sports and children, which to choose

Generally, parents start having their children play sports around the age of three or six. But what are the best disciplines? «At the beginning, it is better to opt for an activity as generic as possible, such as swimming or gymnastics, in order to favor a harmonious development of the whole body. Activities that are too specific, such as football or tennis, are contraindicated because the child has not yet acquired neither adequate dexterity nor physical development », explained Armando Calzolari, Head of the Complex Operational Unit of Cardiorespiratory Medicine and Sport of the Bambino Gesù Hospital Rome.

In this regard, the instructor Giuseppe Gangemi, Coordinator of the Scuola Nuoto FIN (Italian Swimming Federation) of the ‘Villaggio Dello Sport Parco Caserta’ in Reggio Calabria, said: «It is also true, however, that in this age group there is no it is a lot of difference between the various sports, because in all the cases the approach is ludic and the specific discipline of the sport is not entered.
